I have a Zenith Silver Sensor antenna I purchased from Sears with the tv. Will I be able to receive my local hd channels that are broadcast ota by hooking it directly to the tv or will I have to use an external tuner such as a satellite or cable box? The local CBS channel states to tune your hdtv to channel 7.1 but I haven't found a way to do that on my tv.

If your set has an ATSC tuner you should be able to. It all depends how far you are from the towers in your area. You may need a bigger antenna either attic or roof mounted.

It's a 52Z575. Sorry about that. Thought all of the D-ILAs JVC is producing now would be the same.

Your JVC HD set does "NOT" have a ATSC tuner built in, therefore, you must buy a seperate hd settop box (STB) in order to receive local Over-The-Air (OTA) HD signals.

This unit doesn't appear to have an built in ATSC tuner. You'll need an external STB - either OTA or Cable or Sat to receive digital channels.

Thanks for your quick replies. That is what I thought, but I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything before I make changes to my cable/satellite service. Thanks again.

I have the 52Z575 and am using my Satalite reciver (Bell Expressvu(Dish Network)) as the STB for OTA HD Brodcasts, and it works fine (when the weather co-operates).

So with the proper hardware it can be done

Same Question, I've got a 56G886. I tried one time adding an "HDTV" antenna to the ATSC connector, and then set the TV input to scan for channels but it couldn't find any...

Selected Auto Tuner Setup Analog Mode - Air Digital Mode -ATSC

I returned the Antenna, but any input I'm more than ready to try again - Need my baseball in HD!

There is no such thing as an "HDTV" antenna. Any antenna will work.

Guessing your zip code, it appears your should be get digital channels easily. A Channel Master 4221 should work fine.
