Circuit City has the panasonic 56 inch PT56HX41 in a sale AD for $1299! After the stores pay the commission to the salespeople, they are making NOTHING on this tv! This is a GREAT BUY! This tv normally sells for approximately $2000.

HX are Full screen (4:3). I believe they are trying to phase it out to make room for Widescreen TVs.
I bought Widescreen (16:9) PT53WX42 for a great price, $1430 at a local best buy.

They did not have such a deal on the 51 inch panasonic 4:3. It was listed at 1699 in the store. I don't see 4:3 being obsolete anytime in the near future. The best buy price you got sounds pretty good. I was actually seriously looking at the Sony 57" 16:9, but for less than half the price of the Sony, I couldn't resist the Panasonic.

You're right, not obsoloete, just sub-par
