HDTV with a Barco 801S Front PJ...read on

Hi folks

I m musing the follwoing equipment:
----Barco 801S
----SA8300HD DVR/STB
----Centerstage CS2 w/SDI Video Processor (which is HDCP compliant!)
----Infocus X1 for computer web browsing and gaming..whether PC or Xbox
----AMD 64 HTPC with Xcard sdi output and 2 hauppage and a ati powercolor 450 pci catpture/tv card!
----networked roku ne dvdplayer which also plays divc/svid/all those good codec stuff....

anyhow what i need now i storage and capuring capabilities from the stb/dvr
I have heard that the sa3250hd has the firewire which enables it to get the caputures form the stb to the hd's..
as far as a media server..i am thinking another way than the htpc/media server route:

A bunch of firewire to ata converters and a used rackmount server case..mount 4 to 8 250 gig drives and voila!
i m thinking of using the programs instuucted that i found to be able to get the stream and make it look decent!
i guess i ll experiment!

Any ideas??

Any objections?? is there a simplet way of doing this??

As an FYI, the firewire port on the SA8300HD is not active. You mention the SA3250HD and it is.

yep..i meant the sa3250hd..because i m already using the sa8300hd and no such firewire port...i mean not capable of doing it! and once i save anything to it..even if i add extra storage ., it will alwayes be tied to this box..because it is encypted to that box..i wanna be able to save them to my firewire hd/s i m thinking of 4x250gig..that i already have connected tomy amd 64 htpc..then i ll get some more dirves..but i wanna get it working first!
i have ssen others use the sa3250hd with a apple g5 x2 processors...i red this at some blog..i just wanna go that either with linux or windows xp!

do you have any ideas! advice! traps to not fall into while doing this?
