SA8300 HD PVR power save mode

Hi

I have SA 8300 HD PVR box.

Whenever I am recording something from PVR onto a DVD (using a DVR), I get a message saying "
the box will now enter power save mode, press any key to continue"

What this means is that if I am away from the tv, the box shuts off and I get blank data on my recording.

Does anyone know how to turn this mode off?

Good question, I just got the 8300 and it bugs me too that the box shuts off and I have to power it on when I power on the TV.

I hope someone can answert this.

I believe that new firmware will eventually address this. In Toronto this happens at 1 or 2 AM regularly. Try not to do your copying at that time.

It may also help to turn off your DVR every day when not in use, then the powersave may not be invoked when on - not certain about this.

I believe some people have the unit plugged into a timer at say 5AM every day, which turns the unit off completely for a few minutes and then back on to avoid the issue. Of course, you don't want to set any recordings for that time.

I have the same box and I haven't seen these issues. Maybe it's because it's only on when I turn my TV on.

I have it hooked up via HDMI and it the STB automaticlly turns on when I turn on my TV and it turns itself off when I turn off the TV.
