Hey guys,

I am trying to get all of my thoughts together before moving in to a house we recently bought in Georgia and was hoping to run some questions by you.

First of all, I plan to subscribe to Dish Network again and I already own a 311 (or 322 I don't remember) and an 811 receiver. I really want another 811 receiver for future expansion (maybe a projector) but don't care for the $399 price tag that Dish puts on these. I haven't checked on Ebay or anything, but my old dish account was under my name only. If my wife puts the new account in her name only, would she be considered a new customer?

Second, I think I will be getting basic cable (2-19) from Cox Cable. I am not positive, but I'm pretty sure that there are separate cable feeds going to each room (house was built in '99 so hopefully it is RG-6). Since I will be using satellite and cable I will need two coax cable drops to each room I want dish & cable, correct? I know when I was in Texas, I was running antenna and dish on the same lines, but from what I remember, that only works with antenna.

Any help you can give me on these two Q's would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

TravisT

Dish will Move you for free. As for another 811 you can get another account in her name, canle yours and get 2 811's. BUT DISH is moving to MPEG4 and will possibly make the 811's big ol' door stops. \
Where In Ga are you moving too?

I'll be in Warner Robins - off of Watson. I'm sure they will do a swap out if they discontinue the MPEG 3, right?

So should I just get the account in her name and then tell them that I bought a 811 and a 311 (or 322) off of ebay and that I want my free receivers and those? Or better yet just get all new receivers and sell the one I have? (Can you get more than one 811 for free on new accounts?)

I'd go with New and sell the old. Odds are they will not replace with MPEG4 compliant..Dish can be scummy some times. Try and get a 942 HD DVR dual tuner from them

Yea that would be cool - BUT I really don't want the PVR. I have a HTPC that I can recort most of the non-HD stuff on and I would hate to pay the extra $$$ each month just to tape a couple HD shows a year...

Any answers on the cable issue? Am I correct in saying that I would need two separate cable feeds to each room (one cable, one Dish)?

It turns out that Dish is only offering boxes under the DHP right now. I went ahead and got two 811 receivers and one 311 receivers. I will turn one of the 811's in right away and probably the other one also. Looks like I will be buying some stuff off of ebay!
