Time Warner Latest HD DVR and sound

Hello all,

I have the latest SA HD DVR from Time Warner connected via Digital Optical to a Yamaha receiver. Here is my question: Sometimes when I flip through my HD channels, most of the sound comes out Dolby 5.1, but when I go to the ABC HD channel (for instance), I only see my front two speakers show up and I hardly get any sound. Now on other channels, where they aren't broadcasting Dolby 5.1 and I see the two speakers and I get sound fine. Is this just a TWC glitch?

Hey Trace I'm on TWC Houston too, I just checked and 313 is outputting Dolby Digital. What part of town you in? might be isolated to your area.

It is ABC....they frequently leave the output as 5.1, even when the source isn't.

Though the way my receiver clicks in and out of 5.1 and stereo mode...I wonder if NBC isn't causing wear on my receiver....they set the correct mode (usually....there have been times where the front and rear are out of sync, creates an echo...or the center is missing - low dialog). But, when watching a 5.1 program on NBC...the commercials aren't in 5.1, so it switches out and then in....
