8300HD Questions..

I have a SA 8300HD with comcast nj.. I have 2 questions..

1. Is there any way to set a 30 second skip like you could on the direct TV tivo?

2. is there a way to get the GUIDE to be full screen? its putting bars on the lef and right sides of the guide. I do have the unit set to spread regular non-hd signals.

1. No, assuming you are using SARA software, there is no 30-skip option. FWIW, I'll never understand what the deal with a 30-skip is. FF1/FF2/FF3 work quite well to skip through commercials and the Replay button backs up 8 seconds if you over-run, which even the 30-skip does/did. There is also a FF4 coming in the next version of SARA software, but that will probably be too fast to use to skip through commercials. I should note too that the 30-second skip was intentionally left out in deference to advertisers and I don't believe it is a documented feature of current Tivo software, though it can be added/found.

2. If you are viewing an SD channel, the Guide should stretch just like the SD channels do. However, if you are viewing an HD channel, then it will have the bars just like SD commercials do. The only way to make it fill the screen is to use the Zoom button manually, which would be a bit of a pain and you might lose too much data. There really is no need though as the Guide not filling the screen will not cause any problems unless it is left on for a "very" long time.
