I have been having a bit of trouble with my DirecTV HD receivers. Originally, my Hughes E86 overheated and blew, so DirecTV replaced it for me with their H10. I have not liked this receiver at all—it has voodoo favorites settings and resets itself whenever someone calls the phone line connected to the box. Since I voiced these complaints they promised to send me yet another box, and today I received the Samsung SIR-TS360. I've heard that the H10 is a Sammy; is it the exact same box as the TS360? If not, what are the differences?

I can't comment on the differences between the two, but I do own the TS360. I wish I had did a bit more research on the STB before I settled with the Samsung. The only real reason I bought it was because I have a Samsung TV. I figured that having the same make STB and TV would improve performance and reduce problems. Love the TV, but the STB can go.

Samsung, RCA and Philips are contracted to make the H10, DIRECTV will place orders with one or more manufacturer.
No matter who manufacturers the H10 they will all be made to the same specifications.

Really?
That seems odd to me.
Any references?

Ah...
That makes more sense then. There will still be a designation to denote the manufacturer. (-100, -200, -300)
Thanks
The H10 bites. I just had a service call and will have to return it again - this will be my 3rd H10. I am much happier with my Samsung box.
