I was reading a post I found on google, which I think is related to this site, about the service menu so I tried it. It worked so I wrote down the info from the 9 'Factory Menu' pages it had.
After doing this i was looking through it while my cousin was playing GameCube. What I didn't realize was that the page where I changed a value the top read 'Factory Menu (480p)' now.
My question: Does anyone what the default value is for:
R - G
G - G
B - G
R - O
G - O
B - O
H - S
V - S
H - SIZE
V - SIZE
I think I only chaged the value for 'H - SIZE' which I left @32, but I'd like to be sure because a repair guy is gonna look @my screen because it's kinda messed up in the corners. It dips off to the bottom - left, and upward towards the top - left / right.
Also, does anyone know if the contrast auto dimmer can be changed in the service menu and how?
Thank you in adnance for any help you can provide.
Service Menu code: SLP, MUTE, AV, MENU
Scroll: Ch. UP / DOWN
Change value: Vol. LEFT / RIGHT
Exit: 0

I really do not understand why anyone would change any default settings without writing down what the original settings were. Keep a notebook near the TV so you in the future can chart any of your changes. If you start chasing things without knowing what you are doing that is just asking for lots of new troubles. So if you post where the settings can be found that you are looking for (or how do I find them to write them down) I will let you know what they are on my set. Even so that is no guarantee they will be correct for your set right? We both have the same model Advent. Get that notebook asap. John

Service Menu: SLP, MUTE, AV, MENU
Scroll: Channel UP / DOWN
Change values: Volume LEFT / RIGHT
Exit: The 0 button
I wrote down the settings for 'FACTORY MENU 5', which is one of the title's on top of each page you view after pressing 1 - 9 on your remote.
What I didn't realize is that it changed to 'FACTORY MENU 5 (480p)' while my GameCube was in (480p) mode. It apparently detects what version of Hi-Def you are using. I didn't know that.
The option is near the bottom of 'FACTORY MENU 5 (480p). Here's the one I need to reset:
H - SIZE
Which I stupidly now changed to H - SIZE 32. This value seems to change the shape of the screen by stretching it left and right, or shrinking it inward. I just want to set back to normal.
Thank you for response.

BUMP Anyone out there that can help me?
I've also tried www.adventtv.com, but NONE of their service manual pdf's work. Pretty shoddy if you ask me.
A link to a tested download site is extremely welcome too.

They don't work because you must be an authorized tech to view them online.
You can probably contact Advent and purchase one. Or try...

I used a username and password I found online. They might have chaged either login, or disabled themto stop non-repair persons from accessing them.
All I really need is for someone to turn on a DVD player with (480p) on, have them go to the Service Menu, and tell me what 'H-SIZE' on 'FACTORY MENU 5 (480p)' is originally set on. This is ONLY in (480p).
This menu only stretches the screen. It doesn't do anything risky. I just need the original setting so I can document it.
Then I'll move on to (720p) and (1080i). Which I'll write down 1st so I don't have to sweat again.
Anyone who can help, please and thank you.

I just bought this TV at Kmart this weekend. I am at work now, but I will try to post this setting when I get home tonight.

I really do appreciate that.
Thank you, mat.

H-Size is listed on my set as 17
I think you can reset it to factory default if you press the mute button from the factory menu if you have any problems. I just found out last night that this TV supports 720p and I'm psyched about it. If you need anything else I'll be staring at 30 inches of high definition.

Once again, mat, thank you.
But I gotta be sure though. That in (480p) or (720p)?
BTW - (1080i) supported too. Tried w/ Gran Turismo 4.

That was with 480p, but I've changed some settings around since then I think. I have just tried experimenting around with the settings to get teh screen where I like it. If you need the settings for 720p I can help you, but I don't have any 1080i sources to check out right now.

Also, have you had trouble with remote codes at all?
I am trying to get the remote to control my XBOX which usually operates using RCA codes, but I have had no luck. Same goes for satellite and surround system.

I haven't tried with Xbox yet, but you got me interested.
I did get my analog light on my Dual Shock 2 to light, so since you reminded me, I'm gonna try PS2 as well.
The remote did act weird around old vcr's, and was imcompatible around my old dvd player, so I had to buy a new one.
I'm not sure how compatible it is with other devices, as I haven't tried. Except my cable box. I think it's just programmed badly, or cheaply.

RGB Control 0
RGB Control 1
RGB Control 2
RGB Control 3
Thank you!

I've been experimenting with my HT3061A this afternoon, in the service menu. I came across a supposed factory default command.
From within the service menu, hit MUTE. It will display "Shop Out Initial" in red, and then after a minute or so reset back to channel 3. This should replace all the service menu options (AND normal remote function menu options) with their factory settings. I would still write everything down first though :)
I screwed up my picture pretty badly earlier :P so I as glad I found this.

To those of you that attempt this procedure, be careful and forwarned! Changes in the service menus could render your set unviewable and/or void your warranty.
As suggested write down ALL settings PRIOR to making changes.
