No. DVD-D (digital) signals cannot be converted to Component video (analogue) simply via an adaptor or cable. They can't be converted "legally" at all.

Check out the Momitsu V880(N)....they'll upconvert to component...and it has a DVI-I output (which I then have a DVI-I to VGA adapter going to the VGA input on my Samsung TV).

Also, keep in mind that if the Samsung DVD player is DVI-I output, then going from DVI-I to VGA should be the same as DVI-I to Componenet input.

Is the Samsung HDCP compliant, or rather if it is DVI-D out, then you will probably be forced to Digital input on TV via HDMI or DVI.

I'm not sure if this is your model or not....but page 2 on this review refers to a DVI to Component connection for some tv's...

Good luck!
