SA 8300 is getting really hot

It is in the shelf under the TV, with not much space to breath under or over it, so it is almost adjacent to the shelf.

I normally leave the glass door open, but today when I checked it after the recording 3 hours + another 2 hours of watching off the HDD i couldn't touch top or under of the unit.

Is this normal?
Does it require ventilation or space under/over it?

These units have been reported to run 'hot' and require a lot of ventilation.

Get it out in the open or consider adding fans to push/draw air around/through the unit.

Last night I pulled it out of the cabinet and it is half way sticking out.
I am planning to buy A/V cabinet to get all my stuff in it. It should do better than the crowded under TV cabinet.
