I have a Sanyo HT32744 and Comcast with the 8000HD box. The TV has three different modes, Normal, Zoom and Letterbox. When I have the box set to 1080i I get black bars on the sides of the picture and need to zoom in with the TV setting or stretch the picture through the box. The HD content comes in as 4:3 and I need to select the letterbox setting on the TV. I do have the box set to 4:3 in the setup. The weird thing is if I set the TV to 480p I get a much better SD picture with no bars and the HD content still comes through as it should, in 16:9 letterbox and I don't have to change any settings.
Is there anything I can do to avvoid the small hassle of having to change the settings to 1080i and letterbox? It's not a big deal because the 480p with the HD channels still looks better than the SD channels and this works for channel surfing.
