Hello everyone. I've been searching everywhere about HDTV stuff and I like what I see around here, so I wanted to ask everyone a question that I haven't been able to find an answer to.
I have an Olevia LT32HV television, an XBox and DVD player connected to both component inputs and a Scientific Atlanta 8300HD with Passport software connected with an HDMI-to-DVI cable.
The cable box works fine, and the picture is nice and clear (except for some weird lines appearing sporadically on the sides or the top of the picture). Overall, it's about the same as component , which I expected would be the case. The problem is, every time I switch to one of my component inputs, the box stops transmitting a signal to the DVI and when I switch back it tells me my TV isn't HDCP compliant. I'm guessing it loses its "handshake" or whatever it's called, and can't get it back. I have to turn everything off and on again to get it working (what an annoyance!).
I don't know if this happens on other TVs too, but I would like to know if there's something I can do about this so I don't have to keep re-power everything every time. I sent Syntax an e-mail about this but I'm not sure how long it will take them to respond. I have a component video switch available as a last resort too, but I would really prefer everything being plugged into my TV directly.
Thanks
