I have a strange problem with my new Sharp 37" LCD TV (LC37GB5U) when I connect
to my rented (Rogers) SA8300HD DVR via HDMI.

Everything seems to work fine until I power off the TV and DVR. When both are powered
down via the remote controls, the DVR re-boots continually. The DVR LED display shows
"boot" (or sometimes just blank) and I can hear a relay clicking every once in a while as
it re-boots.

This ONLY happens when I am connected via the HDMI port. The DVR works perfectly
(no re-boots) if I use the component cables.

What I have tried:
- I swapped in a new SA8300HD and it acted the same way.
- I purchased a new cable amplifier and a new (better) splitter. The cable signal strength
went from -16dB to -2dB but the same problem persists.

This is a very repeatable problem.

Has anyone heard of this problem before?
Could this be a problem with my TV or HDMI cable?
Does anyone have an Sharp LCD Aquos working with a SA8300HD via HDMI?

TIA
Phil

I would ditch the cable amplifier, and call you local cable provider to boost up the signal in your house, and use component cables instead of hdmi, to see if the problem persists. AFAIK

Yes I am running with componet cables for now and there is no problem. However it would be nice to
use the HDMI conncetion since the TV is a digital device. Although I must admit, I really can't see any
difference in HD quality whenever I use component instead of HDMI. I have also noticed that the
HDMI sound cannot be controlled by the SA8300HD volume control but this is not the case when
analogue audio is used. I guess HDMI is just not quite there yet!
