Heya

I'm looking at purchasing one of these on eBay because they're so flippin expensive from Shaw (my cable provider). Does anyone have any suggestions in regards to pros and cons of doing this. If it was branded by another cable provider would it still work on mine? Any insights would be much appreciated. Thx!

Contact your cable company and verify they will let you purchase your own first and go from there. The risk with e-bay is getting a stolen rental unit, it's not hard to ID them back their original cable system.
