What is the best mast pre-amp?
I have huge antenna mounted about 20 ft up. Inline amp and still having trouble with the signals. Thanks

Channel Master 7775 (UHF only) or 7777 (UHF/VHF).

The CM 777 is worse than the rat shack amp! What gives? :sobbing:

A pre-amp can only amplify what's there in the first place. It can also amplify multipath issues. Do you still have the inline amp hooked up also? You could be overpowering things...

Why don't you tell us what antenna you're using, how it's connected, type of coax and provide the results from:
www.antennaweb.org
Maybe we can figure this out.

Did not have the inline amp hooked up. After some antenna adjustments, it seems to work better.

I have a question....I keep reading about amps, but do they work on digital HD signals? I can get most stations in, between 80-95% and the HD looks great. The problem is ABC only comes in at 70% and the HD is really bad. Would an amp help in this instance?

You have good strength. What do you mean that the HD is really bad?

The HD signal is really pixelated (sp?). The picture is really blocky. Not really sure how to describe it any better than that. I didn't know if a 70% signal could be boosted up to >80% to help it out. My other HD OTA stations come in consistantly at >80% and they look great. I am using Dish 811 HD receiver with a radioshack 160" long dual boom antenna (VU-190 XR). I am about 60 miles from the broadcast towers.

Hey Opus902!
Are you trying to get WOI out of Des Moines?
I'm told they just boosted their signal in the last few weeks, but I still can't get it. I'm in Marshalltown, about 60+- from the tower.
The other Des Moines stations come in fine.
I even have the same RS antenna, though I use 2 other UHF only antennas for HD.
