Wondering if anyone can explain what 3:2 or 4:3 pulldown technology is in basic terms?

Recently purchased Samsung ht-dm550 PS DVD with 3:2 and not sure what this feature is. Unable to find any explanation in manual or online.

I have this unit hooked up via component video to Toshiba 57hdx82 via hd colorstream setting and picture seems good.

3:2 pulldown is just a stupid term that all these maufacturers use for basically saying that it makes the frame rate of filmed based material look correct on your TV. Your Toshiba has it also but the TV never does as good a job as the DVD player will do but yeah thats all it means..
