View Full Version : Ghosting in regular def.. Sony KDF-E50A10
Just bought the set. HD stuff is awesome! Regular channels have some double imaging. I have exhausted the menu settings but I'm stumped. I have el-cheapo coax from the cable co.(Cox Digital) into Belkin Pure A/V filter, to HD cable box, to T.V. Connections are tight. Weird...Why would the HD stuff look so good and the regular def stuff have ghosting? Sounds like a signal problem... I don't know. Any ideas out there? Thanks.

ghosting or INGRESS is caused from the local OTA programming showing on the cable programming..... many things can cause it... a main line problem.... a cable drop problem.... cabling in your house..... bad tv etc just depends on the situation...... best way to know its coming from in your house take the smallest tv take it outside to the ground block and take the cable drop right into the tv.... if you dont get ghosting then its inside your house.......
Have a look at the HDTV FAQ on "Poor SD PQ". One of the tips there may help (like bypassing the STB for SD channels, or using a composite connection for the SD channels.
Which Cable Set-top box (STB) do you have?

I have a hitahci 51f510 and saw some ghosting on SD. I have mine hooked up from STB to tv thru monster component. I tried splitting the cable but was a pain in the buttocks for my wife to switch all the time so just left the connection alone. I did some tweaks in service menu (apperature turned off, sharpness, enhancements off, etc.) and the ghosting went away. May want to try that.
