im curious as to if there is a poll on the internet stating a realistic average of the bulb life with the projection sets on the market, and even more interesting would be brand specific averages! i heard consumer reports had surveyed an average of about 4000, about half of what many manufacturers were claiming in brochures! also how much merit does a good power conditioner on prolonging bulb life if any? also the new monster ups system claims to improve bulb life by controlling the cool down period or something like that. any input on these topics guys? thanks!

It's so dependent on:

Brand
How many times you turn your TV on/off (Additional stress)
Whether you have any power failures with the TV on (bulb doesn't cool down properly)
Whether you have a UPS for the above.

There have been some polls on this forum...

I use an UPS on my mits 50 incher. At Sams club you can get one big enough to run the TV. Cable HD DVR and TiVo for a little over $100.
