I have a SA8000HD unit and I've recently had problems with the FF and REW. When viewing recorded material from certain channels, I get severe pixelation and very slow FF speeds (when at 8X actually only getting 1.5X).
When viewing recorded HD material it's no problem, and on some SD channels it's alright too, but most are bad - very strange. It's recording from certain channels that I have this issue.
Anyone else encounter this?
I have heard of some people having this problem after the latest firmware update. I don't think it happens all the time and I think they are working on a fix. Call Rogers to confirm. They should have a "ticket" on this issue.
You could consider exchanging your 8000HD for the 8300HD, which doesn't have the issues.

Thanks! Will swap equipment, although it upsets me to lose all of my recorded material!
I would never advise someone to buy one of these PVR's - always rent so that you don't have to worry about warranty.
This is going to be my 3rd swap in 1.5 years between my 2 PVR's.
You may wish to "keep" the SA8000HD for a few days to allow you to watch your recordings, while also paying for the SA8300HD. This will cost you a few $, but you won't "lose" the recordings...
If you buy the DVR, you can buy an extended warranty for $5/mo...

Formatted the HD and no luck - same problem. Swapped for the 8300HD, much better!
I find the 8300 much quicker to switch from 1080 to 480 and vice versa too. Much nicer to change between SD and HD.
