reliable series recording

Hi,
I've been using my Comcast DVR (DCT6412) for a little while now and it's great. However, on two separate programs now I've noticed a problem.

I want to set up a series recording of American Chopper in HD. Right now I only see new episodes on Discovery HD airing at 10:00 PM, so I go to set up a series recording of it. Well, when I do, even though I select it to do a series recording, when I finish there is only 1 red circle on the program (whereas when it's set up as a series it has 3 red circles). I've also had this same problem with I Love Lucy.

Something else I noticed last night...I had also set up a series recording of Amer. Chopper on the regular Discovery channel. My settings were for 'all episodes', and it was recording most of them, but last night one came on that had 'new' written by it and it wasn't set to record.

Is this just some software glitches on the 6412, or am I doing something wrong?

One other question...when setting up a recording, what's the difference between selecting 'all new episodes' and 'first run and repeats'? The manual is absolutely no help on this, and no one that I've talked to knows the answer to this question.

Usually what's to blame is the IPG. One week they may say "Am chopper" and the next "Am chopper HD". By adding the HD, the DVR gets "confused" and doesn't think it's the same programme.

Happens all the time on my DVR, so I've got some programmes that I record "all episodes" and other programmes that have changed their names in the past, so I programme those weekly to ensure I get the recording.

I have a series recording issue also. Comcast DVR. My Deadliest Catch and Ultimate Fighter are series recordings. But it records the same show like 5 times a week. Sucks.
