Whatever you do, DONT ever classify ANY TV as a "gadget". Something that most people use everyday of their lives is too important to call a gadget.

HOME THEATER IS SERIOUS- thats the problem, most people just consider
a "TV" some cheap "fun" appliance that isnt very important, but the reality of it is that most people watch some form of video almost everyday of their lives so its not something you want to take lightly or not give full consideration to how it affects YOUR LIFE and bad a mistake it is to think
it isnt that important, its only not important if you DON'T watch, but nearly everyone DOES watch.

Agreed... there are serious issues happening every day in this world, making sure you don't consider a TV a gadget isn't one of them.

What you guys dont seem to "get" is that cinema can be art, and without art you DONT HAVE A LIFE. Not everybody watches "Fear Factor", "Cops" and "Professional (sic) wrestling" full time. Without a proper home theater, you DONT GET the full artistic impact of the visual imagery the artists have
created.
Period.
And thats a terrible thing to go thru life without. So the bottom line is
you cant take home theater lightly, there are important things at stake.

Well if you are a HDTV enthusiast, and I would think most people here are,
you dont want to be using terms that trivialize or miscommunicate the HDTV experience. That would be a contridiction. If you like it , you dont bash it by calling it something worse or lower than it is when you have an high appreciation for it and presumably deeper understandiing than the average non HDTV owner would. It just doesnt make sense. It gives a false impression. Nothing is gained by doing that....

It depends on who you are talking to. When buying my tv, I told my wife it was an "investment", not merely a tv, or - heaven forbid - a "gadget".
