Would that be possible or would I run into problems since the PC DVI doesn't support HDCP?
EDIT: Obviously I mean with a DVI to HDMI cable.

Shouldn't have any issues, this is only a problem when the source of the material is HDCP compliant and the TV isn't.

I've connected my Dell 9300 laptop to my tv with a DVI to HDMI cable before. I did not have any issues. It was actually really cool since I downloaded some WMV-HD video files from Microsoft at 1080p.

Plenty of places where one would run into problems.
Compatibility between the video card and the set for starters.
Example; JVC and ATI don't seem to get along. At least a 9600 Pro card and a HD-52886 won't work. Others report nVidia does work (6800 card?). The JVC doesn't even see the bios splash screens with the ATI card so it's nothing to do with drivers or O/S.
sieben; try another resolution. Are you using PS?
Also read this regarding HDMI v1.2;The HDMI 1.2 specification also adds features and capabilities that increase HDMI's appeal for use in both the CE and PC industries. Specifically, the features and modifications for HDMI 1.2 include: Support for One Bit Audio format, such as SuperAudio CD's DSD (Direct Stream Digital) Changes to offer better support for current and future PCs with HDMI outputs, including: Availability of the widely-used HDMI Type A connector for PC sources and displays with full support for PC video formats Ability for PC sources to use their native RGB color-space while retaining the option to support the YCbCr CE color-space Requirement for HDMI 1.2 and later displays to support future low-voltage (i.e., AC-coupled) sources, such as those based on PCI Express I/O technology "HDMI 1.2 has several changes to better support the PC industry, including a minor modification to the electrical specification to ensure compatibility of current and future HDMI receivers with a low voltage, AC coupled transmitter (for example, a transmitter in an integrated graphics chip)

I bought an dvi to hdmi cable this weekend and am having trouble with the image. I have an hitachi 57" HDTV and a radeon 9800 pro video card. By default the card will show only 640x480 resolution unless I force it to output at 720 or 1080i. If I force it to one of those formats I would be able to see the edges (top, bottom, or sides) and therefore can no see the task bar, close/resize options of windows.. Anyone have this problem or a possible solution.. I switched back to s-video cable in the meantime.
Have you tried PowerStrip? Have you looked in the HTPC forum?
