If your looking for HD quality (or close to it), here's some food for thought:

I'm not the most informed on this (57U seems to be the man) but I'm about to buy an 'InFocus ScreenPlay 5000 Projector' for front screen projection. It's 16:9 native and for the money seems the best buy i can find.

let me know if you can see any weak points in it as I'd be glad of some input before I buy.

I'm not really an expert on FPs. Hope someone else will provide you with some feedback.
As long as you realize that the H31 is it not native HD, 1280x720. Great price range and should do nicely in your application if you can live with SVGA.
SVGA 854x480.
MSRP is $1,299. Maybe shop around the net a little.
I would recommend viewing the unit to be sure you don't have issues with 'rainbows', perhaps members of your family also.
Do a forum search on 'rainbows'.
Be sure to look at Ratman's links

I purchased the Sanyo PLV-Z3. It does HD's 720p w/o compression. It's cost was in the $1300 range. The picture is amazing.
