I didn't know where else to post this so I thought I'd post it here....I was told to visit this site to get some really good information about high definition reception by antenna for local channels.

I've had my HDTV for about three years & I've had about three years of problems with getting high def signals without pixilization. I had an outside ChannelMaster antenna installed prior to getting the Hitachi 65" rear projection set about three years ago. I have Directv with the HD package for $10.99 per month & get FOXHD thru the NY station on channel 88. I subscribe to everything I can that broadcasts in high def. My problem is with the local channels in Jefferson City & Columbia, MO. I live approximately 3.2 miles from the CBS station & about 8.5 miles & 13.6 miles from the NBC & ABC stations respectively. My problem is that each station requires a different antenna to get their station without pixilization. I have a TERK tube antenna for the ABC station, a wing antenna for the NBC station & I have the most problem with the CBS station which is the closest. The NBC & ABC stations run about 50-60% on most days with the antenna's without pixilization but the CBS station runs about 90-100% on most days WITH pixilization. I've tried EVERYTHING. The outside antenna is actually worse than the rabbit ear antenna I use for it sometimes & sometimes just connecting a wire to the back works better than the rabbit ears. I've connect amplifiers to it & the eventhough the signal gets stronger, I get more pixilization. I think when the signal flucuates the most(signal dropout?) that is when it has the pixilzation or green screen. I'm at a loss & don't know what to do. I've had the guys who installed the antenna come out & look at it, but they know less than I do. I've talked to people & they don't know what I'm talking about either. I can't understand how the signal is better with rabbit ears instead of an outside ChannelMaster antenna which I paid $100. No one has been able to help me....can anyone give me some suggestions? I've spent about $500 on antennas, connectors, amplifiers, etc....and still nothing is stopping the pixilzation. :(

If I do happen to get it right one day...the next day it's back with pixilization....it's driving me nuts! :wow:

You have a few issues.
1) you say the Channel Master is a 'wing' antenna. Is it the 3010 "Stealth" antenna? If so, not a good antenna.
2) you also have a Terk 'tube' antenna? Is the the TV55? I beleive that it's powered. You don't need amplification. You're overdriving the signal.

Check www.antennaweb.org
cut and paste the results here so we can get an idea and provide some ideas.

My first thoughts are... get rid of those 'gadgets' and get a real (traditional) antenna for best results.

1) I don't have the outdoor antenna hooked up to the tv right now because it is worse than the rabbit ears inside, but I found the model(Channel Master CM 3671 Deepest Fringe Crossfire Series
Antenna (CM3671)). I'm not using it though...

2) It is the TERK TV55 model & I don't have it amplified. The ABC station(channel 22) likes this one the best.

Currently, I have a Zenith Digital HDTV UHF indoor antenna(ZHDTV1) winged inside antenna on top of the tv for the NBC station(channel 36) as it likes this one the best.

The CBS station(channel 12) doesn't like those & doesn't like the outdoor antenna or the indoor rabbit ears either. I currently have a wire in the back of the Directv box for it to come in the best....I don't understand why a station that I can see the tower from my house is giving me such a problem.

Aimed properly the 3671 is the best option. If the x-mitters are over powering the STB, then an attenuator may help.
