I just bought a 720p/1080i upconverting DVD player so when i up convert the picture i can select 480p, 720p or 1080i but i've heard that most upconverting dvd players only display in 480p? I'm gonna use an HDMI cable to connect the player to my 52HM85 Toshiba. So when i watch DVDs what resolution will it be showed in??

By the way my native resolution is 720p

When connecting via HDMI or DVI, an upscaling DVD player can be set to output the resolution which looks best on your particualr set.

Many of the 'newer' upscaling DVD players will only output 480i/p over component outputs. Maybe that's what has you confused.

Experiment with the different resolutions and see what looks best, keep in mind the source material is still 480i, it'll be a matter of what upconverts better, the scaler in the DVD player or your TV...
