Recording question

I set my VCR (yes that's correct I said VCR) to my 811 satellite box. I ran test on the timer set up to record. No problems there, the vcr came on at the specified time.

Question is, I set the vcr to record DiscoveryHD. I had the twins game on at the time. Once the vcr came on, the channel switched to DiscoveryHD. I switched it back to the twins game.

The recording result: It started to record DiscoveryHD but once I switched it, it began recording the Twins game.

How can I configure it so it'll continue to record the intended program while I can watch something different?

If the satellite STB has only one tuner, then you can only record the programme that the tuner is tuned to. You can't watch one thing and record another unless you have two tuners.

Buy a second receiver just to tie to your VCR or upgrade to the 942 DVR, I believe it's dual tuner.

Unfortunately, that's not an option. I guess I'll make do. We can always use the other VCR in the bedroom if we need to record something different(of course that TV just has rabbit ears).
