View Full Version : Seeking input about STK392-110 ICs
Anyone know of an online store that has GENUINE Sanyo stk392-110 ic's. I had purchased a pair from electronix.com and looks as if one has blown. Contacted the company and asked if they where Sanyo ic's and they are Generic garbage.
I don't know who supplied these ICs (the originals in all our TVs), but whoever did should be forced to pay for all the replacements that are required to all our 3-4 year old TVs. My Hitachi just went - there's a thread in the Hitachi forum on Convergence...
I've e-mailed Hitachi today and await their response regarding this issue.
I've heard that some "newer" ICs are available with different numbers, 120, 180, 200 instead of 110, but "who knows".
My repairman is recommending a larger heat sink once he does the replacement... The repairman also says that many of the ICs on the market are "clones" and not very good - failing in a week or so...
I've moved this into the General forum since it affects quite a variety of TVs...
It would be nice to get an idea of the number of people who've had to replace these ICs. I recommend you supply the following information when you post.
- TV manufacturer
- How old was TV when ICs replaced
- Did you try "clones"
- Did they work
- Any other useful tidbits...

This is already discusssed in the other convergence Thread (http://www.hdtvoice.com/voice/showthread.php?t=14951&page=1&pp=20)
Yeah, I mentioned that in post 2, however, I wanted feedback from ALL people who have encountered problems with the ICs, and I wanted feedback from non-Hitachi people, which the other thread doesn't cover.
(For example, csp originally posted this in the Toshiba Forum)
I got some feedback from Hitachi - several weeks after I asked. They don't accept any liability.
They said they're repair it, and not charge for parts, but would for labour.
I got the unit fixed by a local fellow - the parts were not expensive so I'm sure my cost was less than the "Hitachi deal".

I just ordered some STK392-040's from Electronix.com ... I'm kind of worried now, maybe I should cancel my order?

I've always ordered them from B & D Enterprises: five sets of chips with no problems.
Substituting a different part number may not be a good idea. The quiescent current of the IC's may be different, and the resistor values may have to be changed to match the IC's. I've heard Electronix parts are duds.
