I have a DVI cable as well as component cables connected between my cable box and tv. When I switch back and forth between the two, I don't notice and picture quality difference. I thought that DVI was suppose to be far superior to component. It should be for what the DVI cable cost.

This has been a discussion many times. A few searches will turn up many opinions and perhaps reasons.
Bottom line, it depends on the type of TV and the devices connected.
Just because it's "digital" does not always mean "better".
1. DVI cable is not any more expensive than component video, provided you know where to buy.
2. See the HDTV FAQ "DVI/HDMI Information". It's all explained there.

3. Hope you didn't get sucked into a "luxury" cable...

If you own a digital tv such as plasma ,DLP, or LCD then you will see an improvemnt in
PQ with DVI or HDMI.
But with an Analog display such as CRT, the benefit will be close to none.
Like ratman said it depends on the display.
HI,
Theoretically you should see a difference, because DVI is all digital.
However, I really doubt you can see ANY difference between 2 DVI cables.
You can get reasonable priced oneds with good quality elsewhere.
I would never go for the price that you pay for at the stores. You don't get what you pay for.

I paid about $8.00 shipped for some no-name DVI-HDMI cable on ebay and since it's digital, it doesn't matter. It even has 24k gold plated connectors, or at least claims to.
Actually, the cable quality doesn't seem bad either, though I have not really handled any "luxury" brand cables so I can't compare it to them.
I am replacing my 3 component cables with a single DVI cable. To me, the benefit is less crowding of cables behind the TV.
Careful shopping for cable allows you to get them for about HALF what you pay at the Big Box (Best Buy, etc.).
Try Beach Audio on the www. They sell AR cables for a LOT less than Best Buy. Even with shipping, I saved a bunch.
