Depending on how big your tv is..the bigger the tv the worst its going to look..Comp. or S video

Well my tv is 52" so that might be the problem

And another thing:
When i connect my PS Dvd player via HDMI and try resoluting it to 1080i the picture looks like it's very zoomed in, same with 480p

my native res. is 720p

Analogue stations will look better via composite connection because the comb filter of the TV will be able to work it's magic. See the HDTV FAQ on "Poor SD PQ", as well as "Cables & Connections".

For the "zoomed in" problem, see the HDTV FAQ on "Black Bars". You may not have the DVD player set up properly.

This makes no sense because when you use a DVD player with S-Video out
and a Monitor with S-Video in, a comb filter is not needed at all because the chroma and luminance signals were always perfectly seperated in the first place and thats better than the best comb filters there are because a comb filter is just something needed and used to seperate chroma and luminance that got combined together on the composite signal and even the very best comb filter is not as good as never combining in the first place which is what S-video is all about. There must be some other reason why this isnt working
properly, not because the TV has a great comb filter, that wouldnt be better than S video connection on properly working equipment.

Although you could be correct about DVD players, the opening post is in regard to an STB. Since the native signal is RF and combing would be required, your comments are not applicable (although perhaps helpful in a different discussion).

Your right, I missed the part about STB. The question is way to vague.
What type of signalis be tuned in? Analog, SD, or HD ?
What type of set is it, analog, or SD/HD?

If the STB is anything like mine, a motorola 6412, the analog tuner is
garbage compared to my Sony HDTV analog tuner, try NOT using the STB
on analog channels. If the signal is SD/HD then he shouldnt be using either SVideo or composite if the TV has component or DVI/HDMI inputs.

More info is needed....

No, the question is to the point. S-video looks worse than composite.

The SA3200 is a non-HD box.
His TV is identified in his signature.

Also, my post talked about analogue (composite) signals, where the comb filter is applicable. DVDs are digital source material and cannot be combed.
