:hyper: I am building a home theature room in my basement. The size will be about 12 feet by 21.5 feet. It can be made as dark as I want. Can anyone recommend a projector and screen size. I am assuming that probably the best projectors would be DLP with around 2000 lumins output or better at 720p and 1080i. Is this right? Are there good solid projectors out there that won't cost me over $3500 and perhaps less?

Well, if you have $27,000 you can always get the ultimate, best-of-the-best projector - the Sony Qualia-004 (http://www.projectorcentral.com/Sony-Qualia-004.htm). At the very least, there's no problem with drooling for a while.
Anyway, the specs you are referencing are actually pretty good. The Panasonic PT-AE7000U is one projector that I know with these specs - 1280 x 720. You can get it for about $2000. It has an HDMI input, but no DVI.
The Optoma H77 (http://www.anrdoezrs.net/click-1585831-10391416?&URL=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Ebuy%2Ecom%2Fretail%2Fproduct%2Easp%3Fsku%3D90143791%26loc%3D111%26sp%3D1) is probably even better, albeit for $1000 more. Higher contrast and DVI input.

Nothing wrong with an HDMI input, in fact it's next generation. Reminds of when a cable tech came to my house and said you didn't do your research, you set doesn't have DVI....

HDMI is OK.
I prefer DVI only because I don't use my TV's speakers. If I were given the option of one or the other, I'd get an DVI with HDCP support. Of course, I'd rather have both ! :D
