Has anybody called their TV manufacturer to have somebody come out and correct their TV's geometry under warranty?
Just trying to see others experiences with this.

Yes... they came, they looked, they left!
They were going to call RCA/Thomson and get back to me. That was January, 2002. Still eagerly awaiting for the callback. ;)
I exchanged the TV... same problem.
Then, I searched MANY forums, got into the service menus, found a section of the service manual online and fixed it myself.
I'm sure that many experiences are not like mine.
It often depends who comes to your house. If the tech is interested in helping you, he'll go into the service menu and tune things up pretty well.
If, on the other hand, he doesn't care and just wants the money for the service call, he'll typically say something like "nothing can be done, that's the way it is", or "I'll get back to you" and never does.

Hmm...I think I'm gonna give it a shot just to see if I get one of the "nice" ones lol.
The only time I had somebody come over to my house was for a former Sony TV. I had a convergence issue and the guy told me it would be better to return it to the store than to have him take it back to the shop. He said it's terribly hard to adjust the convergence on direct view Sony TV's and said it would probably make the picture worse in the end.

Yes... convergence can be very difficult with direct view CRT's.
Geometry is quite simple in most cases.
IMO... you have a warranty and should allow an authorized tech to take their 'best shot' to resolve. It's what you've paid for.

You can probably do a search on the forum for the times I've dealt with a tech...
The last time I had one out, he flat out told me he only had to get the geometry correct from the center of the screen to 2 inches from the outer part of the screen from all sides.
I was like... WHAT? That is stupid! Then whats the point if you're going to see bending on the edges, etc.?
I just let him do his own thing and then ordered the manual online and got some service menu tips from a couple different forums and fixed it myself.

AVS forums is your best bet, just ask around.

Not necessarily...
For Sony specific, www.agoraquest.com would probably be better.
Just ask around.

I forgot about AVS, but that Agoraquest site looks great also. Just looking at their forums they had service manual posts. I'm sure somebody will have a pdf for the one I need.

I beleive KenTech has a thread about sony service menu and tweaks at avs forums check it out, or check out what ratman suggested.
Either one is good information.
