Hello,
I just bought the new Samsung 42" dlp television. I received the SA 8300 (Adelphia) box and for some reason when I connect it to my tv using HDMI a screen pops up saying my tv doesnt support HDCP and to use the component cables. Anybody have similar issues?
From what I have been research my television is HDCP compliant so I am not sure what to do.

Please provide model number of your TV. If it has an HDMI input it should be HDCP compliant. Have you run the SA Setup wizard?
See the HDTV FAQ on "Tips for SA STBs".
Turn the TV on first, then the STB.
I've heard of issues with some Toshibas (mostly with DVI) and some Samsungs, also with DVI.
I've deleted your duplicate post.

Basically, I called Adelphia and they said some of the boxes have some port blocked some dont. Unfortunately, when I went to go swap it out at the local service center....they have no idea which ones are fixed. So I guess you just have to get lucky. Any help would be appreciated if people have somehow figured it out. I dont trust people at adelphia...they all seem very clueless about things.
In the meantime, you can use component video cables. Any 3 RCA type cables will do for a while if you don't mix up the colours, provide you only have a short run.
Does Adelphia run Passport or SARA firmware? If SARA, then the FAQ may help you if you run the setup wizard, etc.

thanks 57U...was hoping to avoid using a component splitter for all my stuff.
Weird...that it works for some on adelphia but not for others.

Hello,
I just figured this out...here is what I did to help future individuals with the SA8300 and the samsung DLPs.
---connect with components
---set 1080i as the only picture format in the SA8300 setup window
---set "fixed" as the picture format
---turn off STB...then switch to HDMI.
Although that may be what's required for your situation, some people prefer their SD signals sent to the TV as 480i or 480P (passthrough or upconvert1/2), with their TVs doing the final conversion, rather than the STB. This does work for some people...
Note that HDMI/DVI can only carry digital signals, so analogue cable won't "go".
