I have a JVC AP-48P575 HDTV and a HD cable reciever will using a HDMI cable improve the picture quality.
I currently ony get 6 HD channels right now.
I would like to improve the picture of the non hd channels.
Let me know what you think.
Mike
It may, it may not. See the HDTV FAQ "DVI/HDMI Information".

What connection are you using now? HDMI may not be better than component, but it's definitely better than S-Video for example.
I'm using component because I don't have any choice for HDTV. My TV's 4 years old, came out before HDMI and DVI.
See the HDTV FAQ "Cables & Connections". Component is better than S-video, as S-video is only capable of carrying a 480i signal.

I've heard the component hookups will offer better SD PQ than HDMI. I've never tried anything but HDMI on my tv, but I can say that the SD PQ via the HDMI cable is nothing to brag about.
Hi,
Theoretically HDMI should look better since it is 100% digital. You don't have the extra D/A and A/D conversion which adds more distortions.
My suggestion is that you purchase a reasonable priced cable and just try it. I don't recommend you buying $100 cable from the big retail.

An HDMI connection will generally not improve an SD/analog signal/picture quality.
Many times it will actually produce more digital artifacts.
