I'm a newbie to HDTV and to the SA 8300HD DVR, having installed both less than a month ago, so this may be old news for some members...
I found a site that has a wealth of information about the 8300HD. I haven't searched the site extensively, but I thought I'd share the link with the list.
The site is the Scientific Atlanta Explorer eClub (http://www.scientificatlanta.com/explorerclub/default.asp) and it can be accessed after free registration.
I hope this is of use to folks.

p.s. BTW, I came across the above site while searching to confirm if the SA 8300HD now has four Fast-Forward and Reverse speeds, because that's what I now have on my box. Maybe Cablevision downloaded some updates?
