Hi, new here and can't find much info on the Sony KDP-51WS655, does anyone have one? How is PQ on SD channels? That is what it will be used for most. I have cable that is only so-so in quality. I had a Sony 60" RP LCD (last years model) and the PQ was horrible when not watching digital cable channels. That TV died after 4 days of use anyway so I took it back and never replaced it. I have been told that CRT RP is a little more forgiving with weaker signals than RP LCD or DLP. Or am I just kidding myself by trying to save a few $$$? Thanks for any info you can give or which HDTV you would recomend.

Have a look at the HDTV FAQ on "Poor SD PQ".

I have this model and love it. SD is decent on most stations, HD is fantastic.

Go with the cable card if offered. Outstanding Picture! I mean truly exciting. I have the cable card (COX/Motorola) and STB (for DVR Purposed) connected by DVI. I was amazed at the quality improvemnt comparing the exact same signal from the CC to the STB at 0db 32 S/R. Owned for 6/mo now and still wonder to the AV section at Circuit and to date haven't seen a better picture. Go for it.

From my personal experiences, for sd tv lcd, dlp and plazma are way better pq then rpcrt. I have had both crt and lcd and the lcd has much better pq for sd channels, as for dvd and hdtv, i can't complain about either of them, the crt did have much better blacks but the lcd had a more crisp clear picture and there was no need to ajust the guns every other day. This is just from my personal experience. I would never buy a sony crtrptv if you do decide on getting one of them, there pq is horrible and they have very bad zoom options and stuff.
