Hello everyone. I'm hoping I can get some advice on this. Just a few weeks ago I got this set. All was well until I noticed a strange blurriness on the right side of the screen. More noticible during 1080i broadcasts and playing videogames.
I thought the convergence might be off so I ran flash focus(with the lights off) and that didn't fix the issue. I then set the television into PRO mode and made sure ClearEdge VM was off. Once done I went to the manual convergence menu(User and not Service) and notice the convergence was fine but the focus on the right side was off (blurry). I then adjusted the sharpeness in the menu in a lame attempt to fix the issue but that did not help at all.
At this point I decided to contact a authorized Sony tech site since the TV was still under warrenty and is brand new. However the warrenty only applies if I have the reciept which at this time I can not locate unfortunatley for me.
:(
So I decided to purchase the service manual for the television and go at it my self. This isn't my first endevor into repairing my own television but, I would have prefered a professional to do it since this set is new. But lack of receipt/money means lack of options.
I figured the issue was a focus/sub focus problem. I went through the service menudisabled and examined each CRT individulally using the cross hatch pattern. Green and Blue where fine however, Red was not. The red CRT showed that it was the cause of the blurry issue.
From here I cleaned the lens, adjusted the sub focus on the focusing block and adjusted the focusing lens itself. The sub focus was already optimally configured. The focusing lens adjustment I did fixed the issue on the right side only to intro a new problem on the left side. That is that when I fixed the focusing issue on the right the left side over(or under?) focuses or the red seems bleed over. I should note when I say right side(or left)the issue extend from the center of the screen out to the edge of that respective side.
At this point I'm at a dead end and looking for advice. I apologize for the long post just wanted to state what I have tried already. :D
Thanks
