I'm looking for a DVR that I can record from a component input in 720p. Specifically I am looking to record Xbox and Xbox 360 in 720p mode.

There are no consumer recording devices that have HD component video inputs. There are several DVD recorders with component video inputs, but they are limited to 480i. This is due to copyright concerns. See the HDTV FAQ on "Recording HD".

Thanks for the reply.

I have read the faq and understand that there are no consumer component recording devices. Does anyone know if a professional device that can be used for this purpose?

There is a D-VHS deck that was sold years ago. It was several thousand dollars if I recall. Also, it's an "analogue" recorder, therefore it doesn't record DD5.1 sound.

If you search the web for D-VHS professional, or something similar, you should be able to find it.

Thinking of doing something like Red Vs Blue? my sons use a video cameras aimed at the TV and edit the digitall tape on the computer.
