I was powering up my xbox when I noticed this little blue line on my tv. It's only about an inch long and one pixle wide. It's in the center of the tv and it's not straight or anything. You can only see it on an all black picture, or in my case when the tv was on video 6 and I was powering up the source.

You can only see if from about 2 feet or less away, so it's not a huge deal. Since my tv is new, it's still under the factory warranty, which is all I got with my tv. Will it get worse and should I have it fixed? Or should I just live with it?

I had a similar problem with the exact TV, though mine was a few green blobs, like the size of a finger print. (only could be seen with a dark picture). Others have told me that it could be dust on the light engine, though I had a service guy from BB over and he said that the green lcd panel was leaking. Ended up getting the whole light engine replaced, at no cost to me because I had the BB service plan. I guess if your TV is new it would probably be covered under the Sony warranty. But this fixed the problem. No more green blobs.

"My First Post" as a new member:

This may not be the cause/remedy, but at least try this before blaming the set:

Just about all Sony manuals for their LCD's, and probably their other TV types specifically ~WARN~ Owners that "all POWER must be shut down before making any device connections".

This includes unplugging the TV set from its main power source, ie "complete shut down"!

Various display troubles can be caused by not adhereing to this "Warning", some of which can be corrected by powering down the tv, then "unplug" it from its main power source for several minutes, and disconnect the last device connection made before the display problem(s) were noticed, then reconnect that device, (sounds silly I know), but.....

Reconnect the main power to the TV and power it up.

All better now?? If not make your service call!!

I was not making a connection. I was simply powering up my xbox and was close enough to notice it. I switched to different video sources, which weren't even on and the blue line was there. So I know it wasn't a source issue.

You describe a line, not straight (jagged? diagonal?), one pixel wide, about inch long. That would be about 50 pixels long. If that's correct...a 50 pixel defect...you should certainly consider getting it fixed/replaced IMO

I didn't mean to imply that you were seeing a display problem due to incorrectly makng a connection. I was merely suggesting a possible remedy based on the information you gave in your initial post.

I'm sorry to hear that the problem still exists. I think we are all interested in what you ultimately do to correct the problem. I hope you will return and fill us all in when that occurs and your set is whole again. Keep us posted.....:)

It's not really straight or jagged. It's kind somewhat curved in shape.

elwhoppo - Thanks for the heads up, b/c I do not always take care to shut my sets off when making connections. Though, I don't think I have done so with this tv.

Is it a pixel problem with the display? Or is it dust or something on the inside of the screen?

Does your set have "Game Mode"?? If so you might turn that on due to by default it is always turned off.
