Have a 42H81 set with a dst3000 and toshiba 3750 dvd and couldnt be more happy, have used avia a couple of days ago and made a big difference, now that I finally have a surround sound unit ( sony 6475? ). everything changes , the sound really does make a big difference, watched gladiator last nite WOW, like a movie theatre except smaller, have some problems with NBC Olympics with pixlelzation, they have some work to due wonder if its because of all the white in the picture, but CBS HDTV is really nice.:)

A Toshiba owner checking in. I've got a TW56x81 and couldn't be more happy with it. We just got some HDTV channels on Time Warner here in Milwaukee, WI.
I was simply blown away by the HDTV picture! Especially after visiting various sites and forums on calibration of the set. Originally, I got the TV primarily for DVD use to replace a failing TV last year. And I decided that if I were going to spend the money on a new set, I figured I'd get a HDTV-ready box.

Why do you have to choose between satelite providers? 70 percent of Hd programming can be had over the air. All you would be missing is HBO,Showtime,Hdnet and some ppv movies.

I live in Canada, near Toronto. In this country, we have 2 Sat. providers with HD and 1 large Cable Co. just started in Dec., but our town has its own small cable co. and no HD. I may be under the ground before we get OTA sat. in Canada. Unless we can get an OTA signal to blow over Lake Ontario from Buffalo or Rochester.Ha! Ha!

A satisfied 57HX81 user. JVC XV-D723 DVD player. E* 6000 w/8VSB. All hooked through Yamaha's HTR-5280 digital surround receiver. Bose Acustamus speaker system with a JVC 125 watt powered sub.
Use a CM 4228 bow tie in roof to get OTA from Seattle. I get all stations but I am close to being to far away so I get some drop outs in bad weather.
The local ABC KOMO's HD and my system are not compatable because their HD has dots all around the subjects. It is watchable. I think they are 720p and the toshiba is not able to up or downconvert it. If someone knows what I can do to solve this problem let me.

I just bought a Toshiba 36HF71 and am very happy with the picture off of cable. Tomorrow I should be getting my DST3000 and maybe by this weekend I can get an OTA antenna hooked up. Any recommendations for OTA antennas?? I live between Washington DC and Baltimore Md.

Welcome to the club. What do you use for your source of HDTV signals?

Dick, I power up my Tosh with a Dish 6000 with the 8vsb tuner. I also have a standalone TiVo which is powered by it's own Dish 2800. The Toshiba 65H81 coupled with a DD 5.1 receiver provides for great movies on HBO & Showtime. I do not have a DVD player yet, but hope to add one shortly.
I se a lot of people are using the RS bowtie for $17.95. It is a great UHF digital antenna for a not so distant signal.

Hi!
I'm new to the forum. I bought a home theater system a month ago, and I've gotten the bug
I've got a 50HX81 (not too happy with the picture, I think it needs some serious tuning) Pioneer Elite reciever and progressive DVD, and Dish 6000 system.
If anyone knows a good tuner in Calgary, I'd love to hear about it.

Have been receiving HD OTA in Burbank, CA via a Rat Shack $20 UHF with a PreAmp (Rat Shack also) to my Samsung SIR-T150 STB via Component cables to my Toshiba TN61X81 (4:3) TV. Have had the set for about a year and a half. So many tweaks available on the web! If you are having any problems at all, there are so many resources to find answers. I do have a problem that was answered in this forum somewhere. The post was from 1999 and I wish I had seen it before I purchased the Samsung. Evidently, I cannot receive 1080i broadcasts in 16:9 unless I use the Toshiba ST3000 becaust the TV is 4:3. If anyone else has this phenomena and a solution without purchasing the Toshiba, let me know. When I switch the Samsung to 1080i, I lose the letterbox format option in the Samsung Setup. But I am thoroughly happy nonetheless. My system consist of:
Toshiba TN61X81 4:3 Cinema Series HD Ready TV
Samsung SIR-T150 STB
Denon AVR 5700 Receiver
Denon DVD 2800 Progressive Scan DVD Player
Pioneer Elite CLD 59 Laserdisc Player
Bose Acoustimass 15 Speakers

You wanted Toshiba owners, you got it! I recently upgraded from a Toshiba 50a61 to a 50H71, my first HDTV.. I got it for $1400 from Brandsmart... I am trying to decide on which set top box to get.. the DST 3000 is still really expensive, so for now I have to settle for digital cable (not HD...). I also have a Toshiba 3750 progressive dvd player, and I recently got the AVIA dvd.. So far so good!
