Perhaps a dumb question:
I am tempted to run the digital channel scan on my set again to see what I pick up.
I am wondering if by doing this I would lose the channels I already have or would it just add to the existing channels.
Any thoughts or advice is appreciated.

A scan typically runs through all the channels, so if you get it now, you should get it after the scan as well.

I have the same Sony model as you and have done this several times in the past with no problem. I think the only annoying thing that happened was that some of the channels I specified to be "hidden" (shop at home stuff) showed up again and I had to "hide" them again. It's possible that any custom names you gave to channels might get clobbered as well, but I don't remember if that happened or not.
I scan every once in awhile to see if any new HD channels have been added to my lineup. In the summer, Time Warner added Universal HD to make the US Open (tennis) available but you got the channel 24x7 for a couple of weeks. Then it just went away. Go for the scan.
