And I am here to report that the Sony KDF-60XS955 has been completely flawless  NO dead pixels or burnt out bulbs yet :smokin: I did buy the extended warranty for piece of mind. The picture is just as sharp as the day I bought it in October 2004. I would recommend this TV to anyone that wants to buy a large LCD television :overclap: >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Talon
Mine has been running for a year as well, no problems at all! I second the vote.

What is your source for HDTV? How's it connected to the TV?

Me too. Going to be one year in a few more weeks. Not one singal problem. I was at C.C. and Best Buy today and the XS was still out there next to the SXRD Sony's and I can't tell much of any difference is picture quality. Next to all the other tv's the XS still looked better then all of them. One thing that really stood out to me is the Samsung DLP's did not look as good as they did when I was first looking a year ago. Especially after looking at the XS for the last year.

I've had the KDF-55XS955 for 2 months. Out of the box, I've had a problem with running 1080i from my Dish 811 through the HDMI on the TV. Absolutelty no picture or sound until I do a hard reset on the 811. The problem happens again everytime I turn on the TV.

doublesquared,
I've seen you repeatedly looking for an answer to your issue.
All I can share with you is that I also have the KDF-55XS955 and I have had zero issues with it connected via HDMI (supplied with the STB) to my Directv HR10-250 HD STB. Not a single adjustment was needed by me to make them work seamlessly.
My suggestion is to maybe try a friends or neighbors STB or just get a replacement Dish STB.

You are the first to respond that is using the HDMI input. I'm not famliar with DirecTV. Is your STB set to display 1080 or 720?
Out here in the sticks, people don't even know what HDTV stands for.
A replacement STB is good option, but Dish claims they've never heard of an issue with their 811 displaying 1080i through a Sony HDMI input. Add to the fact that my 811 is out of warranty so I don't care to start throwing hundreds of dollars out the window to fix or not fix what MAY be an issue with my Dish receiver.
It's possible your HR10-250 and KDF-55XS955 play nice together. Maybe it's my 811, maybe it's my KDF-55XS955 .
Sony keeps offering to have the thing serviced (which they should considering it's only 2 months old), but what are they going to fix? 720p works through HDMI but 1080i doesn't. Where do you start? That's why I'm asking for others that have the 811 and KDF-55XS955 using HDMI and 1080i.
Service does not appeal to me because the nearest authorized service center is 150 miles away. The service center won't look at it in my home, they will only send some flunky to pick up the TV and take it on a 150 mile road trip.
Anyone thinking about buying a Sony better think twice and find out who and where service is done on the thing. I had a 55" JVC that needed to be replaced, but at least that service center was only 30 miles from my home.
I keep hearing the same thing from Sony: "In your case, In Home Service means someone will pick up your TV and take it to the service center" :wow:

"You are the first to respond that is using the HDMI input. I'm not famliar with DirecTV. Is your STB set to display 1080 or 720?"--doubledsquared.
I set up my STB to allow me to output all formats available, i.e., 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i to the TV.
I pick and choose via the STB remote control what format I want it to output to the TV.
I generally watch most programming in 720p (alot of sports) but I can and on occasion do use the 1080 output for what is IMO, a tad nicer picture when receiving a true HDTV feed.
IMHO, I would place my bet that your STB is not functioning properly.

Dish network has a known problem with all of their stb's and the 811 seems to have most of the problems follow the link below and read about the 811
