View Full Version : No sound with hdmi cable.

I just purchased a toshiba from Costco (model 65HC15) and I am having problems with the sound. I have a high def tivo/directv combo and a Monster ultra 800 hdmi cable. I get a picture with the hdmi cable but no sound? I can get analog sound if I hook up rca cables, but I would like it through the hdmi cable.

Verify you don't have the Tivo set to output Dolby Digital, some sets can't handle it. Also, if you can get your money back for the cable, return it and just use the one that came in the box with the Tivo, it's digital data, as long as the 0's and 1's get from point A to point B, you will see no PQ difference between the cables.

As for the cable that came with the reciever, I have moved twice since I bought it and I don't think that I still have it. Is thier another brand that is just as good, but cheaper? I thought 160.00 was a lot for a cable.

I found my cable that came with the tivo and it looks and sounds the same as the monster cable. Thanks for the info!
