No picture on 57WS500

Well, first post on this forum and it's not good.
I came here to find some answers and search around for possible other users who may have had this same problem. Today, the picture began refusing to turn on. Once the power button is hit, I hear the relay turn on, sound comes on, and after 5 seconds the sound turns off and the picture never turns on. When it's off, the red light on the front blinks 7 times repeatedly. Nothing I do seems to get a picture of any kind. There seems to be just no power to the internal components that run the video.
Has anyone else had this issue? Anyone know a fix?

The number of blinks is usually a code for what's wrong. There's usually a troubleshooting section near the back of the operating manual - does it indicate what the flashes mean?

On page 73 of my manual it says:
"If your projection TV does not turn on, and a red light keeps flashing, your projection TV may need service. Call your local Sony Service Center."

I originally thought those blinks were telling me something, but nothing in the manual indicates a code of any type. I have a repairman coming tomorrow morning (my TV went out Friday night at 6:00 p.m., and there's no repair service on the weekend--tomorrow is the earliest we can schedule). So, I'm not looking forward to the repair cost, but there's some point where I have to cut my losses and just buy a new TV. I just don't know where that point is...

When you called for service, they should have been able to tell you what the "code" meant. It would have been an indicator of what might be wrong... Oh well... Good luck with your service call.
