I have a Mitsubishi WD725, Scientific 8300 HDDVR cable box, Monster HDMI cable connection. When I connect all three together I get a crackling sound I had Cox come out twice test the lines, Mitsubishi check the tv and replace the hdmi cable. Everything checks out fine, but I don't get it when I connect via the composite connection but then the picture is horrible.

Does anyone have an idea?

Most folks I know do not use the HDMI cabling for sound, only great picture.
The 8300HD DVR on many cable systems has issues with the DD5.1 passthrough from their HDTV sets digital output to their A/V receiver.
The best way to eliminate this is to run the HDMI from the 8300HD DVR box to the HDTV set input and use an optical digital or coaxial digital cable for audio straight from the 8300HD DVR cable box to the A/V receiver for sound.
If you aren't using anything like an A/V receiver for surround sound, you are missing half of the HDTV experience.
