Maybe I'm missing something, but for the price of Monster cables you would think you would see a great improvement in video as the package claims so vehemently. I was very apprehensive about wasting money on such cables, because I never believed it was the cables that made a a difference but the hardware. Anyway I thought I would prove my theory and sure enough I was right. My DVD player is hooked up to my HDTV via S-video. The cables are your average cheap no frills brand. I went to the Wiz and purchased Monster S- video cables for 40 bucks. When I compared the two I saw no difference what so ever!!! Somebody please explain.
If you type "monster" into the forum's search engine, you will see very similar comments from most people. Very expensive cables rarely make a difference, especially if your cable length is 12' or less.
AR cables, or the Radio Shack "gold ends" or similar cables for $25-$50 depending on length are perfectly good for most connections.
The only time I recommend a "better" cable is if you have a 25' connection, then you definitely want to minimize your losses and even then there are cheaper cables than Monster to do the run.

There is no technical explanation as to why Monster (or any other "elite" cable) is better.
The obvious reason is that after you spent your kid's milk money, you need to justify that flushing the money down the terlet was worth it! The mind is a terrible thing to waste.... along with your $$!

Well, I don't need to worry about that anymore. I went back to the Wiz the next day and got a full refund. Thanks for the info guys. Happy holidays.
