I've only managed to get everything set up and started playing Madden and Perfect Dark Zero, for a little bit. I'll look into more today when I get home from work, I was more excited that I got it that I didn't really thoroughly check it out .

Got mine this morning! been playing all day... I think the system is great.

I picked up:
Madden 06
Tiger Woods 06
Call Of Duty 2
Project Dark Zero
Need For Speed Most Wanted
Condemned
Project Gotham
Extra wireless Controller
Play and Charge Kit
Extra Rechargeable battery
3 year warranty

So everything looks great but I cant get my Dolby Digital working, I think I may have bought afaulty Fiber Optic cable so I am going to return it tomorrow and see if that is the problem. Other than that I will be busy all day.

well it turns out the fiber optic cable i bought had a slight slit in it, I returned it and picked up a new one. Now everything is great! HD + Dolby 5.1 gaming is awesome.

I highly recommend Call Of Duty 2, It's an excellent game... I also highly recommend the Xbox360 it's a blast...

I played Madden like crazy last night the graphics gameplay etc just amazing , in the local paper they did an ibterview with a ubisoft dev (office here on mtl ) he said that the King Kong game only uses 20% of the 360's power and when rainbow6 and prince of persia come out it will blow us away, getting COD next week.

Got myself one plus Call of Duty 2 and PGR 3. COD2 is an awesome game.....played that one for hours. PGR3 looks incredible, need more time on that one though. I downloaded the Kameo demo and it looks absolutely stunning..... Heck, for kicks I put in Forza Motorsport (since it's on the backwards compatibility list) and it played better than it does on the regular Xbox !!

Overall impressions is that the Xbox360 is an incredible machine. Popped a USB memory stick in, was able to play the .mp3 files on it and display (slideshow) the .jpg pictures. Power the system on/off from the controller is very nice and really helps me reach that "full on couch potato" mode.... perfect for gaming :)

Microsoft did an extremely nice job on this thing...the dashboard interface is very nice, easy to work with and navigate through.

Heck I even downloaded a couple of trial LIVE arcarde games (Joust and Gauntlet).

I got mine through the Toys R Us pre-order - my friend over at spinning360.com clued me in so I got my deposit in a month ago. It was cool just to stroll in and pick up my Xbox. I thought I was going to get mugged in the parking lot for it though... there was lots of envy at the customer service desk... :)

Dang that thing puts out a lot of heat. It's noisy too. The DVD reader doesn't work in the vertical position but is fine horizontally.

Anyone else notice these things with their 'Box?

DO NOT... I REPEAT DO NOT tilt the console on it's side while it has a disk playing. The manual says this for a reason.

I noticed some dust on the shelf I placed the X360 on, so while my buddy was playing NFSMW I tilted the box vertical and wiped the shelf. All of a sudden the game froze. I turned it off, tried it again and it froze at the same exact spot.

Took the game out to inspect it and there was about a 1/8th inch scratch in a perfect circle all the way around the CD about a quarter of an inch from the edge of the disk. Almost looks like I did it with a protractor..lol

Guess I have to go and exchange it tomorrow at future shop because it is un playable now.

It makes me wonder which way it is better to setup the console, horizontal or vertical?

Max,

just heard on the news about Microsoft getting complaints from many gamers about games freezing. It was on good morning america and I believe microsoft said they will pay for machines to get fixed or send you a new machine. It was said on GMA so I would guess it's credible. I wonder how many people have had problems?

The machine is fine, I have played about 15 hours on it with no freezing. It only froze when I tilted it while it was playing and you can see the damage it did on the disk. After I took it out I played Call Of Duty for about 3 more hours without a glitch so I think it was more my fault than the machines. But Thank you for the heads up.

That's good to hear. Hopefully it was just a small issue with a few gamers.

I've had mine on for 12 hours probably....with no freezes, locks, errors or any issues. I've played COD2 for maybe 4 hours straight, ejected the disc, downloaded the Need for Speed Most Wanted demo from LIVE Marketplace and then played it for about an hour or so, quit that and browsed other features of LIVE and the system, played some .mp3 files from my USB stick and viewed some .jpg pictures......still no freezes or issues. It's an isolated problem more than a system wide problem.....and some could be user related issues. My system isn't that loud, about the same as my original Xbox but at a different pitch.

Wouldn't it look exactly like it does on your computer monitor? ;).

Sort of like saying I love the look of the TV in the advertizing, when watching your TV?

I loaned my camera and camcorder to a friend who is expecting his baby boy anyday now, when I get it back I will post some pics.

Here are my impressions looks and graphics wise:

Call Of Duty = Amazing
NFSMW = Good But not amazing
Perfect Dark Zero = Good but not great
Madden 06 = Jaw Dropping
Condemned = Amazing for a dark game
Tiger Woods 06 = Amazing
Project Gotham = Amazing

Other than PDZ and NFSMW, the graphics are crystal clear and really impressive. As for PDZ and NFSMW, I would say they look good but not blow you away next gen material.

Very true 57U,
First is the real pic that I see
then it's the pic my camera actually picks up and captures
then it only looks as good as it can on your computer depending on it's quality of colours/contrast after I compress it to fit into a file small enough to upload here.

...yeah, I know it deosn't do it justice, but at least you can get a sense of the graphical detail and color clarity.

The set was a Panasonic 29" LCD HDTV.

Got mine sent to me from the east coast. A friend put me on a waiting list and picked it up for me. Got my system last Friday and have had no issues with it. I do have it laying down flat mainly becuase I have no place to set it upright. After reading your posts, I dont think I will ever set it upright.

The games I have tried so far:

PGR, which looks amazing and cant quit playing it
Kameo, Looks pretty good but havent played it much
Quake
Perfect Dark Zero is showing up today

I would recommend buying the play and charge kit. And I also set it up wirelessly (mainly becuase I had to)

I have had no freezing issues yet (crossing fingers)
The system is very loud though. The drive sounds like an engine in there.

Anyhoo... I tell you one thing.. it was very very tempting to put that thing right back on ebay to triple my money, but being gadget-girl I just had to open it and play with it. Besides, my friend went through all the trouble to get it for me and would have flown out here to personally *****-slap me if I did that :p

Went into my local gamestop yesterday to finish paying mine off since they told me I was not going to be getting mine till later. I asked the clerk to check and see what # i was on the list and after a couple of looks over the list he said "You can get yours today if you like?". YOOHOO, now if I can just get thru this everso slow 10hr day I will be in shalala playing till i can't take it no more.

First impressions: Man that thing is loud and doesn't the graphix look great!

I actually watched it and I wasn't all that impressed compared to say discoveryHD or PBSHD.

You'd figure there wouldn't be any compression so it would nice, but I'd rank it as O.K looking.
