The comcast DVR has no coax..

and AS i was typing this i thought of the solution.. use a splitter before my DVR box? I hate the extra cables, but i guess it can work.

my SD channels are very bad, so i have to get some form of quality back when im not watching HD.

no one sees any degradation using a splitter? Also, my TV cable goes frmo wall, into that Monster strip filter, the big one. Then out to my DVR. I guess i should split after the filter?

Check out the HDTV FAQ on "Poor SD PQ".

Or you can upgrade to the latest 6412 Phase III (It's the one with an HDMI output). They have resolved the poor SD PQ issue.

I have read that FAQ many times.

serious about the new version?? is that only if you use the HDMI cable, or in general? If its in general, ill go pick one up soon. does comcast include the HDMI cable of some sort with these boxes?

I have one DVR box and one non DVR. My DVR box has a constant rattle that i can hear if i put my head on it. Dont know if its a worn out fan or the hard drive. But havnt had any useability issues really.

thanks for the tips!

It's not only with the HDMI connection, it's also with component, but only with that box.

See the HDTV FAQ on "DVI/HDMI Information". You can buy an HDMI cable for $1-$20...

UPDATE!!

just went to exchange my box for a new one cuz this one always freezes for long periods of time. and they had the HDMI boxes! Maybe this one has better SD quality like I've heard. I guess I'll go buy a HDMI cable, thats the whole point anyway.
