Hi,

This is my first post here, wondered if anyone could help.

I have a Panasonic Cinemavision (big old rear projection thing) and just got an Xbox 360. Now the problem is, it seems the TV only supports 480p and 1080i.. naturally I want to run in 1080i, but the 360 forces it into 'widescreen' mode, meaning all my games are full screen, but stretched (characters are long and thin etc).

Is there any way to run 1080i in standard mode? or is there a way on the Cinemavision to change the aspect so I get good proportions again?

I really dont want to have to buy a new TV so anyone who has any ideas, thanks in advance!

Most HDTVs do not allow a variety of proper stretch modes when using 1080i (HD) inputs. Perhaps there's a setting in the X-Box itself?

^^ Yeah the Xbox does have a standard and widescreen mode, but it locks it to widescreen in 1080i.

I looked up my TV, the 51HX40, online and it seems there is no option to change the aspect to squash the image on 16:9 stuff.

That sucks, maybe there's a external device that would do it?

As far as I'm aware widescreen is part of the 1080i spec - you may be hooped. Check the settings in the system's control panel or the in-game settings.
