Hey Max got a quick question for ya. I have the Sony 50" SXRD and i was wondering what setting did you set the Xbox 360 to output to. I know on my old Xbox i have all 3 modes (480p 720p 1080i) enabled. But from what i know about our tv, it takes whatever signal it gets and upconverts it to 1080p. I am guessing that includes signals it gets from game consoles as well, no matter the output resolution. Have you noticed any difference from enabling certain resolutions; example: does it look better upconverting incomming 720p to 1080p than it does upconvert incomming1080i to 1080p? Thanks

Thomas

I set the X360 to output at 720p, Since most of the games are made at that resolution there is really no point in having it scaled twice {once in the X360 and then again by our TV} plus our TV has a much better scaler in it so I think that is the best resolution for you to choose.

I hope this helps,
MAX...

Next time if you need something answered by just me or someone else you can PM me instead of making a whole new thread.

I'll have to set mine to 1080i. My mits does not accept 720p. Oh well it will still look better then 480p that's for sure.

IMO... it's better to 'share' info with everyone. This way, if someone has a similar question/experience, it's more helpful.

Of course... questions of a 'personal' nature should be directed in a PM.

Mike, any good games you picked up?

I'm thinking of picking the xbox360 up next week since i was told they are having the next shipment come in, and would like to know what games you would recommend that are worth it?

Kameo maybe, but it looks short from what i read on it, Call of Duty 2 probably,perfect dark zero deffinately since from what i hear it was pretty impressive looking.Any others?

In my opinion these games are must haves in this order.

1.Call Of Duty 2 {Best FPS to date}
2.Need For Speed Most Wanted
3.Perfect Dark Zero

Other games I own are pretty much time fillers.

The DVD PQ seems very washed out with the Xbox360 compared to my Pioneer 79avi DVD player and the systems runs to loud for me to consider using it as a DVD player. But yes it is 480p...

I have not used the VGA port on the X360 but surprisingly everything I have read on the subject says the component output looks better even though the VGA is suppose to look better on paper.

Wow.. look how fast this thread grew since yesterday... I figured the same thing about the resolution Max, but since i dont have a 360 yet i wanted to know from someone who already has one. And in the future if i have a question for just you, I will pm you if you like, although i think this way gives everyone a chance to see the answers to questions they might have as well. Also adds to the search results...

Anybody see this?

Makes you want to paint your Xbox360 and sell it, doesn't it? {just joking but...}

And still 7 days of bidding left, Crazy!!!

I played that game also mike I bought my wife a diamond ring and the next day got my 360. Need for speed is a blast to play. Waiting for DOA4 to come out to pick up that one as well.

As for the DVD player I have no gripes about mine but all I had before was a non Prog scan.

is there somewhere to adj the settings for the360 dvd player,is it sending all signals 480p or can you switch it to 480i.

max
12-05-2005, 04:01 AM
I haven't seen where you can switch the DVD modes so I think it only sends 480p when the plug is set to HD and 480i when the plug is set to SD. These are just my thoughts and if you try it out come back and let us know how it went.
